I don't think it's a coincidence, but after upgrading to DVD2SVCD 1.2.2 b3, I can no longer successfully convert avi files to DVD's (after many previous successes). I've read similar threads on this forum but they're all slightly different issues and the solutions (usually reinstalls) are not working for me.

After failing several times I removed DVD2SVCD 1.2.2b3 and reinstalled earlier and earlier versions of DVD2SVCD. I also removed CCE and reinstalled. Each time I deleted the entire directory and contents - and reinstalled everything fresh - but always the same problem.

I'm now using BeSweet v1.5b26 with DVD2SVCD 1.2.2b2

This is the log from DVD2SVCD 1.2.2b2 which I'm testing on a small file, so i can test/retest different combinations of DVD2SVCD/BeSweet - but these always give the same result regardless of what avi I use.

Things where working fine a day ago - now nothing works. Completely stumped - can anyone help?

D2S doesn't seem to like small files, it also doesn't like non standard FPS (15 in your case).. the combination of the two might be the cause of your problems - i.e. it's possible that you have actually fixed your initial problem in some of your test runs but the problem was the file.. i'd try something like a 50 meg file with standard FPS

?!?!?
What kind of computer do you have?
DualCPU P4 3.6GHz?

Venom_IL

@ Manngo - look at the size differences, not just the time... the file is like 1 meg and 10 seconds long :D

DaveyB

Thanks - I've attempted a full size file (700Mb approx). Still no joy. Here's the new log files plus the MMplex log which reveals "File unrecogniseable!" MADPlay_log.txt was empty....

Here's also a directoty listing at the end(just in case there are more clues here)

I'm sure its something simple!
Any further help would be much appreciated

Are you using the "Use source audio" feature in the Audio tab?
If so, what is the audio type in the AVI file?

GSpot or the "file information" option in VDubMod should easily find this information.

It could be that you are trying to make a DVD from an AVI with MP3 audio! If you are checking the box to use source audio but the audio in the AVI file is not DVD-compliant, the process fails.

If this box is checked, try unchecking it so the audio is converted to MP2.

From the DVD2SVCD ReadMe file
Enhancement: You can now select "Do not convert audio" when doing AVI2x. But be aware that you're on your own if you use it. If you get any errors during the process deselect "do not convert audio"

Nick you were spot on - I unchecked "Do not convert audio", ran another test file, and everything seems to be running fine.

It must default to checked, from a new install? Eitherway, I have learnt some more about this fantastic application.

Many thanks for everyone's help

DaveyB, you are right. I think this option is checked in a default install. This is an advanced feature and I am not sure why it is not unchecked in the first place in a default install as it is way too confusing for an newbie. Maybe, they will set this right in the next version!
