I am using DIF, the newest Scenaid and Scenarist 2.7 but I am getting the same error in Scenarist when trying to compile. I know this movie is multi-angles so I only kept angle 1. The error the Scenarist is giving me is it's complaining about VTS02 (which is the main movie), Track 3. It says that its too short (2 frames). And then the compile fails. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

what's 2 frames short? the video?

if it's complaining about the angle being 2 frames short, you can either pad that angle asset to = same length as the other or shorten the track length 2 frames on the longer asset

Here is the error that Scenarist gave me:

Info Preparing to multiplex track VTS02_003_Track
Info Creating Multiplexer info
Info Multiplexing
Info Multiplexing VOB Main Stream
Error (The duration is too short (2 frame(s)))
Error dvd_mux : Open Mux_list File Error
Error Terminated Multiplexing (3.scn-VTS02_003_Track_t.vob).
Error Wrong timecode.
Error Multiplex is failed.
Info Multiplexing failed, Track<VTS02_003_Track>

Error MuxFromDB:MuxVTS failed
Error Multiplex failed
Error DVD files could not be created

Any ideas?

Well I guess it's some still or slideshow thing. Scenarist won't compile tracks that are as short as two frames. Looking at the ifo would give me more info though ;)

email me the scenarist script (zipped) and I'll be able to check that way too

Right click on your audio track, choose data --> place holder, then place holder --> data.

Although after performing the task, Scenarist says : Right click on your audio track, choose data --> place holder, then place holder --> data. this trick didn't work. I still get the same error, and still the error says that (read = 150199 audio frames , expected = 189909 audio frames), meaning that the duration was in fact not changed at all.

Have u tried this ?

Although it's worth a try I doubt if this is a similar problem. My guess is that there's a very short clip of just two frames that scenarist refuses to compile. What I do in these situations is create a short clip of the amount of frames used in the ifo and use that one instead.

influenza :) everytime i encountered this frame problem, this method worked :)

flu, how do I do this, "create a short clip of the amount of frames used in the ifo and use that one instead."

D3S7, I sent the Scenaid script file to you. Thanks.

Ok.. what you ahve is a very small no-cce file (1 frame) that's causing the problems... strangly enough this should have been identified as a still however it appears it wasn't

Find the AVS for this file: \tempo\VTS02\VTS__02_P03-no-cce.I-BFF.16~9_1.m2v and rename it (get rid of the .avs - .avs2 would be fine

rescan w/ Scenaid and reimport and you should be allset

D3s7, well it appears that the same might be true for Track 4,5,6,7, and 8. How can I tell how many frames big these are?

not really an easy way except to drop them into Scenarist...
you can safely remove most if not all nocce files though... they've caused more problems as of late

D3s7, what I've done is take the .avs files from tracks 3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9 and made them look like this: tempo\VTS02\VTS__02_Pxx-no-cce.I-BFF.16~9_1.avsold. I just added the letters 'old' to the end of them. Do I then have to add the m2v's that go with those avs's manually or will Scenaid take care of that?

the m2v's will be ignored and rpelaced with dummies....

you'll never miss a 2-10 frame no-cce file :)

Would Star Wars be OK at 3500Kbps?

I dont know if I should try. :)

You can hardly make a general statement about bitrate and quality. But a progressive source will probably look great at 3500 (and could also look great at 2500).

You won't ever know without trying.

Influenza, actually I have tried, but Zeul knows why I havent finished the backup. ;)

erm.... well then you should know the quality and you stated "I don't know if I should try" then came back and said "I have tried"

so which is it?

If zeul knows why I'm assuming you were having an issue with numenu4u...
try the backup w/out using numenu4u and see what happens

D3s7.. ?? Sorry if this wasnt the correct forum to ask it.

I said "I dont know if I should try", meaning "I dont know if I should keep trying" :P But then, I would had to explain the whole story. ;)

This is my first time making a DVD backup with the Big 3, so Ive been trying to avoid the original DVD menu from my backup (360 Mb), but I dont know if I had do it in DoItFASt4U or later.

See you.

Well unfortunatly without the "full story" it's hard to tell you what actions you should take

chances are 3500 is a good bitrate as far as quality but if your asking about birate for size, we really can't tell you that... that's why the bitrate calculators are used....

However, chances are you won't gain that much of a savings if your menu is currently about 360mg (i'm guessing the numenu version will be about 150-200 unless there's a dummy cell which I don't believe there is in this movie) so it won't hurt to go ahead and skip reauthoring the menu if numenu4u is giving you problems...... if you don't like the quality, you can always redo it with numenu4u
