Green edge to red lettering

I have noticed that when I add red text (or a red overlayed shape) to my PAL DV, the re-rendered footage has a green fringe along the upper edge of the red text. The fringe appears to be only 1 line in height.

Is this an artefact caused by the chroma sampling scheme of PAL DV, or is it likely to be a problem with my editing software (Media Studio 5)?

If it is an artefact, how can I best avoid it?

You should use less saturated fonts. less color.
