Ok, like the subject says I don't have the files named VIDEO_TS.IFO and .BUP
How I got here was I ripped my DVD with DVD decrypter, then processed it with dvd shrink, and went to burn with Nero.
Nero protests there being no files named as above and the resulting dvd isn't playable by normal means.
And when it IS playable on a standalone player...it is 4:3 and all squashed when it should be 16:9.
I spose if I knew what is in the files I could just make em, but I don't.
Any ideas out there?
thanks for any help

Here to answer my own question...
IfoEdit 0.96 was able to do it for me.
Nero didn't complain about the files being missing and burned with no errors.
However it won't play in my dvd player. It won't even recognize the disc. At All.
My first attempt is playable, I just have to select the first .VOB file with the file browser in the menus.
No idea what is wrong there, but at least I figured out how to make my missing files.

you could try just using DVDShrink directly on the files instead of ripping with DVDDecrypter
how are you ripping the files with DVDDecrypter, what mode and files are you ripping?

ok, this is how it happened...
When I ripped it in the first place I did so with dvddecrypter as I have for a long time now to do a xvid encode with gordian knot.
(I only just recently got a dvd burner and haven't used any of this software for DVD backups...didn't know I could get 6GB down to 4)
So anyway that is why I didn't just use shrink in the first place...I was thinking that the dvd was just too big to fit.
I did it in IFO mode, but don't know if I accidentally deleted the files in question or what, but they were not there when I tried to burn.
IfoEdit 0.96 did the job perfectly and it turns out that it was user error as to why my dvd player would not recognize the disc...
Hehehe, feel stupid, but I didn't burn it at all.
The disc was totally blank. I must have hit the simulate button in nero cause it said it was successful, but the disc was blank.
Once I burned it (for real) it worked perfectly.
Now that I know what dvd shrink can do...I'll be using it more often.

That explains why you did not have your VIDEO_TS files. You must rip all your files in FILE mode with DVD Decrypter. You have to do it this way if you want DVD Shrink to process externally ripped files. ;)

good info to know...
I believe I'll use shrink to rip from now on though.
thanks
