View Full Version : I wonder if I am using AutoGK to its best.

Hi guys,

I am having a great time using AutoGK. I have made some wonderful backups of several of my DVD's all of which were in a foreign language and the subtitles were good.

The only issue I have is with file size. On my first few attempts I used the Predefined size-2 CDs (1400 Mb). The resulting AVI's were well over 1400 Mb and the split files would not fit on 700 Mb CD's. I have since been using a Custom size of 1350 Mb and the resulting AVI is very close to 1400 Mb. I then manually split it with VirtualDub. Am I missing something? This is working but is it the best and easiest way to use AutoGK?

Whether or not this is the best and easiest way I do certainly appreciate AutoGK and thank the developers for it.

Size issues are not normal and should not occur with AutoGK. However codec configuration can be messed up, so I suggest uninstalling codec that you're using (I suppose XviD, right?) and reinstalling it again.

Hi len0x,
Thank you for the reply. I will try uninstalling XviD and reinstalling it.

my xvids were undersized. i uninstalled all codecs including divx, xvid, and 3ivx, including deleting xvid.dll that wasn't removed when uninstalling xvid on xp sp2, uninstalling auto gk, and then just reinstalling auto gk. works great now.

Hi guys,
len0x, I did as you suggested and then decoded another DVD. I feel a bit foolish but I found out that the problem was entirely mine---I was using the wrong method to burn the avi's to CD's. The file size was not a problem.

Thank you again for a wonderful and easy to use program. I will continue to read in the forums to learn all I can.
