Ok. I've been looking through the forum, searching for answers to my question. However I cant seem to find the right one. What I want to know is what program(if one exists) can split a DVD9 into 2 DVD5s..WITHOUT changing anything..ie. no compression/ re-encoding/ deletion of menus, audio tracks, subtitles, etc, etc. I'm talking true 1 to 1 ripping. I dont want ANY changes in the DVD9 and DVD5 version other than the movie on the DVD9 dvd is 1 dvd and the movie on the 2 DVD5 dvds are 2 dvds. I think i got the point across. So is there such a program that will allow me to do that?

the program you are searching for exists: dvd fab
completly splits a dvd9, placing menus and movie on disc one and the rest of the movie on disc two. works wonderfully - can't distinguish the backup from the original.

mmm..if it places all the menus and such on the first dvd..how will i be able to set audio language/subtitles/etc on the second disc?

i assume using the same method as with any 'real' 2disc set such as pearl harbor directors cut, godfather 2, or gangs of new york. try the dvdfab tech support forum - no registration required. they also have a trial version which works completely for 30 days

ok i've just finished reading the topics on there and no one is answering the question if you can put the menus on the second dvd. All they are saying is that the menus go on the first dvd and the rest of the movie goes on the decond dvd. I posted a topic on there and i'll inform the rest of you guys on the answer(if they ever answer it)

i believe you can put menus on the second disc if you split it with 'season' mode. why would you want to though? the movie experience is already being interrupted, why make the interuption longer. use audio and caption buttons on your dvd player to toggle between audio tracks.

DVDStripper splits DVD's along with stripping any warning/trailers/intro's crap :)
this was asked a few days ago

switch audio and subtitles can easily be done without a menu by pressing the 'audio' and 'subtitle' buttons on your dvd remote.

Hey guys. got a new problem. everything worked fine up to playback for the second dvd. on the first one, i load it into MPC(Media Player Classic) and once the actual video starts, i can scan through using the progress bar in MPC. Now when i load the second dvd and try to scan through the video it won't go. the little square thingee will move where i click then go back to where it was before and the video continues to play. what can be the cause of that? and one more question, can dvd fab split by chapters rather than titles, that way it wont cut inbetween the video(assuming its a series not a movie..though some series have one title listing for all the episodes rather than 1 title per episode..but meh ;) )
Note: by dvd im referring to the split isos made w/ dvdfab mounted using alcohol 120%

it sounds like the timemap or VOBU search pointers have gone missing in the 2nd DVD somehow :(
you could try running it through something like DVDShrink orIfoedit for examplr to see if they can fix them
p.s. DVDStripper can split by chapters ;)

lol, I do have a soft spot for it :). I co-designed it as nothing could strip a DVD the way I wanted at the time
it doesn't compress anything nor does it strip audio/subs
