i have been perfectly content using dvdfab to backup dvds. however it doesn't work on certain dvds - van wilder, gangs of new york are examples. when is comes to the select track portion, these dvds have none available making it 'uncopyable'.
i've read the dvd shrink guide. unfortunately it removes menu functionality as well as the extra features i wish to keep.
dvd xcopy adds extra copyright info, and is no longer supported. not something i wish to pay money for.
tell me i have an alternative option avaiable. maybe a guide out there? please do not refer me to search a generic 2year old guide from doom9 or afonic. i wish to keep everything functional with extras on disc one and the rest of the movie of disc two. exactly what dvd fab does - except it doesn't work with everyu movie.

I think he's talking about DVDFAB's version Dimad :)
have you tried DVDStripper along with Menumodder? It can split DVD's along with removing any unwanted content from either DVD but it keeps menu's on both DVD's :(
if you ain't bothered about menu's on Disc 2 then you could just use one of the blanking tools and blank parts of Disc 1 you don't want (2nd half of movie chapters). Use DVDShrink for the 2nd Disc and grab only the 2nd half of the movie :)

This may not be exactly what you want but I use DVD shrink and in situations where I want to put the movie on one disk and extras on another. I do a movie only transcode then I do a full disk transcode for the second disk. On the second disk I use still picture to blank out the main movie which allows the extras and menus to be copied usually with no compression needed.

I use IFOEdit - look here (http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/copy.html#2DVDR) for a guide.

Hi audiophan,
DVDFab has improved a lot now, please try DVDFab Gold 2.51 at http://www.dvdidle.com/download.htm to see the result.
The new version can preserve menus on both discs.
