Very bad vhs capture

I've heard about averaging,made 2 captures but don't know which filter to use.

Sure they do! They just have to be approved by a moderator before you can see them.

you have to choose the correct video standard before capping!
most world = PAL or SECAM
exept japan, USA and some others = NTSC

I think I've choosen the right video standard, as this is not my first capture.
The thing is that this video comes from a vhs recorder with bad or dirty heads, which gives those vertical color variations.
I've tried this filter : tweak(0,0.4,0,1,true)
to lower color impact. The image is better, with obviously less color.

I added
Convolution3D(0,3,128,16,64,10,0)
DctFilter(1,1,1,1,1,1,.5,0)

but video is quite hard to compress (800 Mo for 50 minutes).

What else can I do ?

You might try the DeFreq (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82978) by Fizick. It is supposed to deal with intereference.

However, I have to agree with Scharfi here. Your pic looks more like wat you get when choosing the video standard wrong or selecting composite when the source is S-Video or something like that. The pic is basically B&W with chorma interference patterns and no amount of filtering will bring the colour back.

I think I will try playing with s-video / composite and see if I can get better image.

I've experienced similar results when I had bad tape instead of bad heads.
As Arachnotron says, filtering can't fix it. I just removed the chroma signal by merging with a blankclip and saved it in black and white.

it should be a snipplet (direct stream copy) of the captured AVI

no processing or recompression!
