Quick Time matrix?

Sorry about my English.

I want to encode a movie in the Quick time format using the sorenson 3 pro codec. The video is pretty blocky with this codec, is there a way to change the matrix to a smoother one (Jawor 1 cd for example)? Is there any deblocking filter in the sorenson codec?

Mark, can you give the following info on your compressed movie:

Pixel size (W x H)
Frames per second
Data rate (bits per second)
Keyframe interval (one keyframe every 5-10 sec is fine)
What are you using to encode

Sorenson 3 Pro is about 3 years old and not the most efficient codec any more, but it can give good results in smaller movies. All of Apple's QT movie trailers are in SV 3 Pro, you won't see too many artifacts there, although their size is not too large.
Usually blocks mean the data rate is too low, so you either have to raise the data rate or make the movies smaller, once the other parameters are optimized. With SV3 Pro, once you go over 1.5 mbps or so you won't get any improvement no matter what you do. You need to use at least one-pass VBR with Sorenson, 2-pass often gives better results.

Resolution: 512X288
Frames per second: 25
Data rate(kbps): 768 (video)
Keyframe interval: 60 Frames
I'm using the sorenson squeeze 3.5
And I'm using the 2-pass VBR.
The movie I want to encode is from my camcorder.

What do you think today's most efficient codec (for this bit rate)? How much does it costs?
Will people without this codec see the movie properly?

P.S. Xvid does a lot better job encoding this movie (with same bit rate).
