I use a Plextor PX-712 with PowerRec enabled. In DVD Decrypter I select 'write speed 8x'. The following DVD Decrypter logfile reports:
'Actual Write Speed: 16.620 KB/s (12x)',
but the disc is written with 8x. Is this a problem in DVD Decrypter or in the Plextor drive or is this no problem at all?

I don't think this is a problem...have you done a speed test on the disk to check if it burned it ok?

Just to confirm, there is no problem here.

It's just that the Plextor drive always returns the max speed for the disc instead of the speed you've set the 'write rate' to.

As the 2 are different, the program just lets you know about it.

This is normally caused by selecting a speed the drive doesnt support on that media - but it's not the case here.

Thank you, that was what I wanted to hear.

LG drives report the speed they'll start writing at, so they'll report "6x" if you select "8x" or "12x"...

what is actually a standard like MMC good for if drives either ignore it or "interprete" it to such an extent?
