2 xvid options in video compression window in VDubMod

Hi,
I am getting 2 options for the Xvid codec in the video compression window in VDubMod. One says FourCC code: 'xvid' and the other FourCC code: 'yv12', both for the same driver: xvidvfw.dll.
I don´t understand what this means and it never happened before xvid 1.0.2.
Is anything wrong? In case not, which should I use?

I havent found what causes this, but you should continue to use the 'xvid' 4cc codec, since it's the original one, just in case. I doubt using the 'yv12' codec would hurt, but better to play it safe.

i get the same exact same thing, except with divx. i haven't been able to find out what causes it either. but if you uninstall the codec, it removes them both. i dont think it's an installer issue since both divx and xvid do this. like i said, i only had this happen with the divx codec.

maybe someone with more experience can post how to remove just the yv12 one without harming the 'xvid' one?

Just delete the vidc.yv12 key from: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

Still need something to handle YV12 though if you are say planning on frameserving a VOB, etc. to VirtualDub, like the helix yuv codec.

I had the same thing show up after I installed AutoGK and DVD2MKV. I never figured out which installed it, though I suspect the latter.

I recently installed AutoGK. Humm, may be that had to do. I´ll have to check.

Is there any default driver for vidc.yv12 that was replaced for xvidvfw.dll? Which should it be?

If you want a specific YV12 codec then like I said grab the Helix one. As for a default windows one, I don't think that there is one.

AutoGK restores that key on start-up automatically. If DivX is found then its sets its to DivX, if not then to XviD (as there is no default driver as celtic_druid said and it is required for programs like AutoGK to work.)
