20 fps convert to 60fps

Hi all!

(Sorry my poor English!)

My avi film framerate is 20fps (progressive) and resolution is 480x368.
I think the output is best quality (motion), if I'm convert to DVD disk : change framerate 20 fps (progressive) to 60 fps (30fps interlaced!) and new resolution is 352x480.

My question : under avisynth, what can I do exactly?

I think your video is a DLed one, that has been encoded improperly using decimation...
also your 20fps video must be jerky like hell....

20 goes into 60 3 times.

this means you could telecine it with 3 fields output per 1 frame input very easily.

changefps(60).separatefields().selectevery(4,1,2).weave()

will give you 30fps interlaced.

beware that NTSC is actually 29.97fps, so you might want to change fps to 59.94 instead of 60, and drop a field every thousand (not really a disaster IMO).

or, do what scharfi says and buy the DVD (if that is indeed the source of this atypical video).

Well, you're probably right, scharfi, but not for sure. For example, the video in the PAL DVD of Die Büchse der Pandora (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0018737/) is a true 20fps after decimation of the duplicate frames.

Also, I've converted plenty of NTSC DVDs of silent films, which when decimated were 19.980fps, to 20fps.

But like I said, you're probably right. But I don't know the answer to his question. That's more in your line. I'd probably take the easy way out and keep it progressive with something like:

SelectEvery(5,0,1,2,3,4,4)

and then run Pulldown afterwards. Yeah, I know that's wrong (makes it very slightly jerky), but it's easy.

Something's wrong with your script, Mug (I think). Doesn't it give 40fps?

Thanks answer, but original video too jerky, additional (very slightly jerky) I think is result more jerky.

I think the best convert method is NTSC interlaced 30 fps.
