I'm searching a tool to synchronize audio and video in RV9

Hello,

first of all, escuse my english but I'm french.

I'm a noob on RV9. But I'm better in divx.
And I'm searching a tool like Virtualdub but for RV9.
I want to modify the frame rate of the rmvb file and the delay for the audio stream, because sometimes, in my RV9 video, the audio stream is not synchronized with the video.

Could you help me please ?

I think it might be possible with dtdrive. Look in RealMedia Utilities.

but dtdrive can't do that.
It demux or fix files but there isn't any option to modify the delay and the frame rate. And it can't mux.

And finaly, dtdrive doesn't work with MKV contener :(

any ideas ??

actually, I think this must be a case for the upcoming mkveditor from the Matroska team. It could potentially be possible to get dtdrive with its most recent advanced options to do something like this for an RM file, but I am not sure.

It would also be useful to figure out what causes the a/v sync problem in the first place, and then correct this in the encoding stage, instead of after the files have been encoded... :rolleyes:

In fact I'm comming from the xvid planet :D

I do divx or xvid since 5 years, and in xvid the a/s sync is often bad, but with virtualdub it takes only 5 minutes to fix the problem.

So I'm learning about RV9.
But I'm surprised that there isn't any tool to do the same think with RV9.

Does a tool exist for rmvb ? instead of mkv

Merlin-X: Welcome to another planet! :) I am afraid I have never had to correct a/v sync in any RM file, so it is not really that common. dtdrive can however offset the video relative to the audio:


-VO <Offset> = offset in time video relative to audio (+/-ms)

dtdrive is a complicated cmd line tool. Feel free to experiment and try to figure it out. To change the offset +500 ms:


dtdrive input.rmvb -W output.rmvb -VO +500


RM files are inherently VFR (variable framerate) files, i.e. each video frame has a timestamp associated with it. There is no fixed framerate, like in AVI, even though a file will play back with a fixed framerate if all the timestamps are the same distance apart.

Therefore, changing the framerate is rather complicated. I don't know any tool for this...

Can't you just use the delay option and mux video and audio in mkv using mkvmerge? I believe mmg could help you...

he is right. the output file will be a matroska file but you can set the audio delay in mkvmerge
