I open the VTS in ifoedit .94 and change the color table [0 to 15] into EA 80 80 which I believed would be black. When I press "DVD play" and viewed the DVD, the subtitles are "white text in white outline".
Any ideas on how to get "yellow text in black outline".
Thanks

First you need to know which table entry is for the text, and which is for the outline. You could either experiment with different colors or track down the mapping in the subpictures. As for color values, someone once posted a link to a YUV color aid. I don't know the values for yellow, but I do know that black is 10 80 80.

You can use PgcEdit to change the colors with a GUI: just double-click on the PGC you want to modify.

I'm not an expert with subtitles but how about trying this? It workED with a DVD I was testing it on. Just in case it doesn't work for you, save your IFO and BUP file in question beforehand.
Using PgcEdit's Color Look Up Table (CLUT) for your title in question.

For those of you who wish to play with the colors using IfoEdit, I wrote a (server-side) applet to help you choose the color values. FREE (http://www.mpucoder.com/DVD/color_pick.html)
(A nice yellow is D0 11 90 (http://www.mpucoder.com/DVD/color_pick.php4?mode=4&Y=208&U=17&V=144) )
