DVDAuthor failed for unknown reasons!

I am trying to convert an avi file into a format that is playable on dvd's. I am not sure if i am doing anything right. I started off by loading dvd2svcd and clicked the conversion tab. I loaded my avi file. At first CCE would screw up, so i patched CCE now it got pretty much to the end and it said in the log that DVD author failed.

What does this mean?
And where does this program save converted files?
And am i doing this right if i want these files to have the ability to play on dvd players?

FYI, DVDAuthor is the final step of the conversion, but it can fail due many reasons...

Logfile would be helpful as jsoto suggests.

Please also post the Mplex and DVDAuthor log files. You will find them all in your output folder.

This happened to me as well. Install the latest version of DVDAuthor from its website and try again. It worked for me.

I hope it helps but if it doesn't, then post logs and other pertinent information as recommended.

i will run dvd2svcd again and get the whole log file if needed, and i am currently looking for a download link for the newest version of dvdauthor. I donwloaded one that i think may be it, but the one dvd2svcd came with had a bunch of .dll files and this one has no .dll's so i do not know if i should replace it yet.

Do not look for a new dvdauthor version (at least by now)

MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg: is an input file for dvdauthor (produced by Mplex). Do you have it?. Please post the complete dvd2svcd log and Mplex log
