what does the foward broadcast in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
default key value? I PUT IN THE WRONG ONE AND NOW I'm confused what does it do.

Absolutely nothing, if you are really concerned just select and delete the value "(Default)" and it will reset to "(value not set)", just don’t delete the whole key "Parameters" ;)

Directly from microsoft (Q314053 or now it changed it's name, search for "TCP/IP and NBT configuration parameters for Windows XP"):
ForwardBroadcasts
Key: Tcpip\Parameters
Value Type: REG_DWORD - Boolean
Valid Range: 0 or 1 (False or True)
Default: 0 (False)
Description: Forwarding of broadcasts is not supported. This parameter is ignored.
Well what do you know... :)
