View Full Version : Burning error using dvd shrink - a disc compatability problem?

ler01kjh
25th September 2004, 12:06
I haven't had any problems at all backing up dvds, using dvd decrypter 3.2.3 to rip and Dvd shrink 3.2.0.15 to copy. The first discs I bought were InfinitiŽ Samurai Electric Blue 4x DVD-r.

I've since run out of these and have started to use Budget Yellow 4xdvd-r.

The first couple of dvds came out successful, but each one since then has had a burn error. Copied below is the error from dvd strink. The dvd-writer I use is: LG Double Layer 12x DVD DUAL R/RW/RAM IDE Burner - OEM.

I haven't a clue what the error message means but if anyone can suggest the solution I would be really grateful. I assume it is probably incompatability of the discs? Is this most likely, and whats the cause?

Try upgrading to the A111 firmware.

Thanks for the suggestion. Upgraded the firmware, and successfully burnt another disc! But the second I tried failed again :(
What does firmware upgrade do that the previous firmware didn't?

Hi, I tried using nero instead of dvd shrink this time, but got a 'focus or tracking problem'. Error log is below. I also used Nero's system check facility, and noticed that under the 'aspi' tab, for 'system' it says there are aspi file(s) missing. On 'nero' it says all aspi files are present and working.

I'm completely ignorant to what this means. Would be grateful for any suggestions please!

Firmware updates are just like software updates - they fix problems!

Try getting some different (better quality) media, your drive doesnt appear to like the discs you're currently using.
