This problem is showing with some new DVD’s i bought yesterday.
I’ve successfully rebuilded some others so this problem is randomly showing up on my computer especially with these new ones.
The DVD’s are nothing special by the way. (The Avengers) A simple menu, some extras and 3 episodes of this series fore each DVD. Total size: dvd1 7.80 and dvd2 6.69 GB
I’m using the following software:
Rebuilder 0.62
Avisynth 2.5.5
CCE sp 2.67.00.27
(I think) Proper MPEG2Dec3dg.dll 1.0.1.0 28-04-2004
No other extra settings in rebuilder. Just the regular one’s (dynamically assign cell bitrates, convertToYUY2)
Ripping tools tried: decrypter and shrink (latest versions)
Is there a solution for this problem?
After some reading and struggling I successfully rebuilded these dvd’s with rebuilder version 0.50. So I assume that the DVD’s aren’t the problem. Any chance that this nasty problem can be corrected again in rebuilder 0.63??? I understand that you’ve been very busy so again muchos gracias for all the hard time you put in to it……..

Ok so people don't seem to understand. If you are using another app than JDobbs, he can't really do much to help you. The other apps can be screwing up what he is telling RB to do which causes errors. Try the discs without other apps if it doesn't work with them, if RB gets the job done, then it isn't an RB issue and JDobbs shouldn't be bothered with it. Once it has all the multi angle and other things everything will work great.

Are people reading it wrong????? Clearly I’m using only the recommended tools to rebuild these dvd’s. The only thing i’m trying to explain is that the problem wasn’t there in jdobbs rebuilder 0.50 and from there on up the problem starts or reoccurred, i’m not sure. I’m not trying to give him more work for this fine tool but just give him all the details and user experiences to make it better. I don’t expect anything but all our input will only improve the quality and stability of the program…Or am I totally wrong here?

Shrink is not a recommended tool. It is an outisde app that causes issues for people. That is what I was talking about.

Probably was just a typo for your paert, but the proper date should be 24-04-04 (I just checked)

Ok! That’s what you're talking about. Decrypter is the preferred tool, i know but if that isn't working you try another tool to see if decrypter is causing the problem. Eliminating and narrowing down the possible causes for the problem is my logical approach to solve this. The fact stays that rebuilder 0.50 is working perfectly so I will try to combine the old and the new version to rebuild all my dvd’s. I have to install 2 versions of CCE to benefit from all the new possibilities so keep your fingers crossed and hope that its going to work this way…..It’s not the most elegant solution but it will have to do I guess. Thanks anyway for your advice…

I just today (using the new version 0.62) started getting this problem. (the runtime error 9).
I havent had this problem before.
it happens like this.
1) start dvd rebuilder
2) open video_ts of the DVD to rebuild
3) Rebuilder gives the error: "Error: Ifo is not a legal VTS IFO file."
4) Rebuilder gives the error: "Run-time error '9': Subscript out of range."
Oddly, this very same dvd never gave a problem with version 0.61, although the resulting files were jerky on my DVD player when burned (the issue that was fixed in 0.62). As of now i have to stop all DVD backup with rebuilder :(

Its very propable that you're not configured correctly. Read the usage and setting stickies and the FAQ and follow them exactly. For me it sounds like you didn't rip the entire dvd.
Your step 2) sounds strange. There is no video_ts to open in rb, only the source dir (mounted or via file mode) to be located.
@bavaria: I had this runtime-error 9 once or twice, and I changed my method of ripping and presenting the data (mounted ISO or file mode), and the error didn't occur.

Something is wrong -- maybe you aren't pointing to the directory you think you are... the first error you got definitely means the IFO file has been corrupted -- because it doesn't have the required header in the first few bytes... there is no question about that one, the source is bad.

I also tried the iso mounting method a few times with the same error. The only thing that works is to use rb 0.50 at this point...

Anyone care to send me the 0.50 version, i got the .35 then it jumps to .56 :/

Don't use 0.50 -- I think that is a misprint. I wouldn't use anything below 0.60b -- there have been too many fixes to go back that far... or you could wait until Friday and use v0.63.
I mount every disc I do with Daemon tools without a problem... I don't think going backward is any help.

I get the runtime 3 problem now and then.
I do a iso with dvddecrypter, mount it in daemon tools, and then use Rebuilder.
Latest movie with errors was Natural Born Killers PAL R2 DC.
Well this thread is about the 9 problems so i wont post any more here :P

well see i was reading the ifo directly from the dvd. i think there was a driver or program interfering with this.
i got it now tho... not to worry. it all works better (except quenc rate problems but this isnt the place to discuss that)

Was this an Asian DVD by any chance? I was just bragging about how I never had an error when pre-processing files and then today comes along. All I did was strip the DTS track off of this Asian disc with ifoedit, and now I'm getting the same error as above.
