Decoding an xvid in a matroska container through NeroDigital DSFilter

Hi,
I have an anamorphic xvid encoding with a custom PAR set in the stream and the container is mkv. I would like to decode it through NeroDigital DSFilter to get the right AR.
Is this possible? How? Sorry, but I´ve no idea how to decode besides with ffdshow or the xvid decoder.

Questions, questions...

I guess you're not intending to view this encode (or any of your others) via Nero's ShowTime player? Which it is possible to do, by the way! What software player(s) are you intending to use?

AFAIK it's currenly not possible to force an Mpeg4 (DivX, 3ivx or XviD) encode in either MKV or AVI, to use Nero's DSdec filter. And believe me I've tried :(. Hopefully the next release of Nero VisionExpress will solve this.

The only way I've been able to make it work is by changing the Mpeg4 files 4CC to NDIG (which is NeroDigital's 4CC code).

One more thing... which I don't think I've mentioned before (or see mentioned before) regarding "video only" Mpeg4 streams in MKV... they play at twice normal speed :confused:

Have you tried the beta XviD DSdec filter?

Try mplayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu) or VLC (http://www.videolan.org) and all your anamorphic playback problems will disappear :)

It's not really surprising because Nero's DSdec filter is quite a complicated beast. As it's able to decode Mpeg1, Mpeg2 as well as Mpeg4... It's getting better though, so who knows, in time it might become fully accessible via other software players!

Until this happens, you can of course play all your Mpeg4 (DivX5, XviD, 3ivx etc) encodes via Nero's ShowTime player, which has improved greatly in recent releases. It works particularly well with encodes that contain anamorphic signalling.

Works for me, but I have a cvs head build installed. Thought 1.0.x did MKV resizing though, just not AVI?

However, it won't work with XviD B-VOP encodes without packed bit-stream :(

Works fine here, both 1.0.2 and cvs head for MKV files with or without packed bitstream.

For me...
XviD encoded with no B-VOP, auto AR's
XviD encoded with B-VOP and packed bit-stream, auto AR's
XviD encoded with B-VOP without packed bit-stream, does not AR
XviD encoded with B-VOP and packed bit-stream, which is then removed, does not AR

Are you talking MKV's? Because for AVI's I think it is the same for me.
