is it possible with DVD-RB to not include certain small movie segments, such as the beginning studio logos or warnings, etc? I was wondering if this is a simple matter or not.

I would recommend you try RBOpt (Look at the RB Overview Sticky at the top of this forum).

I allows you to controll bitrate on a cell by cell basis. So, although you do not get rid of the logos you can reduce them:)

Other way is to combine RB with Shrink or VOBblanker: Eliminate the unwanted parts from the OUTPUT of RB, before burning. If you want to use the extra space for the movie, you can play with the TargetSectors settings, aiming to a larger output first, to get the right size after removing the unwanted parts (it is a bit tricky)

You could try to get rid this parts before processing with RB, but sometimes RB does not like the preprocessed input...

Thanks, I have been giving RB-Opt a try with great success, but as you say it doesn't allow me to do what I want. And while I'm just starting out learning these programs, I don't seem to see those small trailers that I want to remove (before the main menu) using DVD-RB or RB-Opt. I think they only show me the main movies/extras. Am I wrong?

Also it is my understanding that if I use DVD-Shrink to remove any unwanted video streams, I will no longer be able to keep the menu structures. Unless I change those trailers to still pictures, but again that's not what I want.

I'm giving DVDStripper a whirl after reading about it in this forum. Anyone have luck with this and DVD-RB? I'll also try VOBblanker like you mentioned. Thanks!

Hi J-Wo,

I quote all of the PG55555 suggestions. The programs of Robot1 and Jsoto are simply beautiful and excellent pieces of software. I higly recommend their usage.

By the way (let me give you a little hint, that has been very helpful to myself): the beautiful guides of 2COOL are really great, and they are written exactely with the pourpose of being very clear and explicatory...

Cheers,
SD

First thing i do is watch the dvd files that I ripped to my hd with dvd play function in IFOEdit. That will tell you where all those studio logos and things reside (what vts). Then What I do is get rid of unwanted things with DVD Remake or IFOEdit. Then I run through Rebuilder then you start up IFOEdit and use 2Cool's guide to get the Menu to come up right on dvd insert. OR check out his guide on bypassing titles. THey are all quite good.

RB (and in consequence RBOpt) does not mess around with menus. So you can not see them in the Preview of RBOpt. VOBBalnker does not allow to touch the menus either.

In order to locate the trailers/logos I would recomend use Shrink to see the logical structure of the DVD (the Titles), and find in which Titleset are the part you are looking for. Afterwards, you can use Vobblanker to see in which VTS are those Titlesets (or use Vobblanker directly, as it also has a Preview option)

Then you can locate it with RBOpt in order to reduce their bitrate. Take into account that the main screen in RBOpt shows the VOBIds, they can contain several cells. To watch them you have to select Tweak. Please be aware that in some cases the logos are part of a cell that includes part of the movie, in such cases you can not reduce the bitrate of them without affecting that part of the movie.

If you want to work with the menus, IFOEdit o DVDRemake.

thanks for the suggestions guys. DVDStripper seems to be the solution for me. Unlike other suggestions, it doesn't just reduce the bitrate of those unwanted trailers, it removes them and changes the dvd structure using IFOedit automatically. The resulting video_ts folder can then be loaded into DVD-RB. Give it a try guys, it really works!

Both IFOEdit AND DVDRemake cut out the trailers instead of reducing bitrate. Those were both my suggestions.
