View Full Version : Really messed up a/v-sync

Okay, first of all, I know many people here will find it stupid to reencode, but still, this is a problem I have, and I hope you can help me...

Sometimes, when I want to reencode old files (usually divx+mp3 in an avi) to Xvid+ogg in ogm, I get problems. I use virtualdubmod with avisynth-scripts, but that shouldn't matter.

I usually save the audio using that option in virtualdubmod (streams-window), then create an audioless video, and finally mux in the ogg(which i made using besweet), again with the vdub-streams-video (of course, direct stream copy a+v).

Mostly this works perfect, but sometimes, my audio is not in sync with the video during the whole movie. Which means, it's totally perfect at point A, but might be up to some seconds wrong at point B. But no, it's no fps issue, 'cause it gets back to normal at point C, just to mess up again later...

The original file is totally sync.
I also noted, that some of the files, which get screwed this way, don't open flawlessly in vdubmod (when open straight, without avs). I sometimes get a message about some problems within the audioheader...

So, my questions:
what's the cause?
how do you call this phenomenon (so I could intensify my searches using the right keywords...)?
for avi, i often used YAAI to quickly fix delay problems, without having to reencode. Is there a similar tool for ogm?

Thanks a bunch for anything, that will help me!
(by the way, I also tried muxing with oggmux and the likes, didn't help either...)
