Hi all

Ok I have a small problem "forgive the pun"

I have converted a 1.36 gig AVI file to DVD, when finished all the vobs files came up to 1.69 gig ??

This happen the other day with a different file of the same size so not thinking much of it I didn't worry than I set DVD2SVCD up on a mates pc did the same AVI and it was over 3 gig in size then when I compared then on the my DVD player his was in Digital "Digital light on amp turned on" and mine "the small one wasn't. So I assumed the difference must be something to do with the audio...

I checked the file size's and the in the folder after it had completed and this is what ive got, if it helps

Encoded_audio_1.mp2 179,248 KB
Extracted_audio_1.ac3 418,246 KB
Encoded_Video_CCE_NTSC.mpv 1,532,530 KB
Pulldown_Encoded_Video_NTSC.mpv 1,532,530 KB
MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg 1,778,050 KB

Im Using DVD2SVCD 1.2.2 build 3

heres the LOG FILE.... any idea what ive doing wrong here i use to use the program daily but have been away from it for about a year and have only reinstalled it recently...

Hi and welcome here!

Please read Rule 6 here (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm)!
Next time please avoid posting anything, that can refer things like that, becouse we do not help in this case. Sorry.

Hi

Very sorry, I did read and was aware of this rule but I do own a copy of it and choose not to mention any names in my explanation in case people thought I was breaking rule 6 ("which im not") but stupid me didn't think that it was present in the log file, my mate created the avi from the DVD in front of me in an attempt to teach me how to create AVI' s and I thought I would try and convert it back to DVD and then this happened..

I have removed all relevant terms and should be fine now..

Again sorry

the problem is with video.
You are doing 1 pass VBR.
go to 'encoder' tab and select multipass VBR.
Number of passes can be 3 or 4. It will make.
Under CCE options (pop-up) uncheck 'DVD compliant'
go to 'bitrate' tab and set max bitrate eg. 9000.

Run the project again.

A hint:
you can also use the 5.1 Chaneel ac3 stream in your DVD, which is present in the avi. Just have a look at 'audio tab'. Right now you are downmixing it to stereo.

Also, by the look of your log it appears you have altered the "max bitrate" setting in the bitrate tab. In your log it reads as 4471. Up this to 9000.

by the look of your log it appears you have altered the "max bitrate" setting in the bitrate tab. In your log it reads as 4471 Yeah, it seems, but IMO not true. Seems to me DVD2SVCD logs in this parameter the calculated average bitrate.

EDIT: I cannot see anything wrong in the log... May be D2SRoBa_log.txt could help, please post it.

Just checked up a few logs I had and indeed you're right. Max Bitrate actually logs Avg. Bitrate
I'd actually never noticed that in all the years I've been using the software

Assuming D2SRoBa was used, the log looks fine. However, no mention is made of this, in which case Manngo is right here.

Assuming D2SRoBa was used, the log looks fine. However, no mention is made of this You are right, no mention of D2SRoBa, and there isn't the log "Restarting from Muxing...", so seems D2SRoBa is not used. What has confussed me is the Avisynth script.

So, I also conclude Manngo is right here.

Try looking at the length of the audio file while besweet is running or any other tool that will read the extracted audio file. The length (time) should match the length (time) of the video file. If it does not then you will have a problem.

For what is it worth, I have had problems with converting camcorder tapes converted to avi files. In my case the extracted audio is in wav format and is too small. It seems to happen when the audio is more than one chunk (as reported by virtualdub). To get around this, I extract the wav file using virtualdub using the Extracted_audio_1.wav filename and then restart avi2svcd at the audio encoding step. You might be able to do something similar.
