Hi,

I have about 20 music video clips that I've captured to separate avi file from my cable TV that I would like to encode to a DVD. The DVD will be menu driven with each video clip listed separately. The problem I have is the audio level varies for each clip. How would I be able to normalize the audio for each clip to the same level prior to encoding or authoring?

The following are the steps I take to create the DVD:

Capturing:
Use avi_io with PicVideo MJPEG codec and audio at umcompressed PCM 48kHz.

Encoding:
CCE Basic with audio encoded to MPEG Layer 2 @ 224 kbps. CCE Basic creates elementary output files (seperate .mpv and .mpa files).

Authoring:
TMPEG DVD Author

I'm not sure at which point in the 3 steps above I should perform the audio normalization. I haven't seen any option in CCE Basic for normalize audio of the input avi files. If anyone has suggestions, please post them.

Thanks.

Audio editors, like cooledit, soundforge etc, have an option that let u global normalize the audio levels of a series of wav files so that they sound equal.

Each program has its own term for this and iirc cooledit calls it Group waveform normalize and u can find it under the Edit menu.
