wow...i've been searching thru the forums for more info ( after i posted the above) and the info on this site is mind numbing.
still any help that would help me avoid starting off on the wrong foot would be much appreciated.
i downloaded dvd decrypter...thought i would start there.

what do you mean by "sound bytes" ??

dvddecrypter sure is the first step to getting the audio off your dvd... always a good start!

if you just want the dolby digital track from your dvd, all you have to do is decrypt with dvddecrypter and then demux the audio with dgindex (earlier known as DVD2AVI)... afterwards, besweet would be the tool of your choice for audio conversions (if you want to convert it in any way!)

edit: oh almost forgot the nagging: ;) pls use a more descriptive title for your thread! thx

thanks steve...sorry about the title.
as far as sound bytes...i just want a high quality sound file i can use for anything from making audio cd or as sound alerts on my pc.
this site has given my eyes that "glazed over" look...i can't believe how much info is on here.

ok... then decrypting with dvddecrypter and demuxing with dgindex is the way for you to go...

afterwards it depends on what you want to do with it, or what format you want it to be finally...
