I was just wondering if dvd decrypter shrinks dvds to fit on a dvd-5(i think thats what its called so i can back it up) or just decrypts them to original.

If it does I cant find the option in it.

If not whats the diff between dvd decrypt and dvd shrink, from what i can understand dvd shrink does the whole process whereas with dvd decrypt you still have to use shrink once you have decrypted, this is more of a general knowledge question as in which way is the best to do.

I notice shrink uses a lot of cpu where decrypt dont, but after using decrypt i still had to back up with shrink.

Any help would be appriciated thank you.

Welcome to the forum:

DVDDecrypter is a CSS decryption tool. It basically does what the name implies, it removes the encryption from the disc, enabling you to work with it in whichever manner suits your particular needs.

DVDShrink is what's known as a "transcoder". It's a very flexible tool, but it's basic purpose is to apply just enough compression to your files to allow you to burn them to DVD+R or DVD-R (DVD-5) media.

Yes, Shrink can both decrypt and compress, although many of us choose to use Decrypter, then send the files to Shrink afterwards. You'll just have to jump in and see what works best for you. The guides here and at dvdshrink.info are excellent resources.
