Hey.
I want to be able to make the best quality 1cd DVD to XVID rips.
Which is the best program for me to use. I'm not worried about complexity or anything I just want the best looking rips. I have a question, does AutoGK do this step automatically?

"It's a bit guesswork as you cannot predict compressibility of your movie but here's some hints:

* It's not a good idea to go much below 0.17 bits/pixel*frame
* If you go for 1 CD stay close to 0.17
* If you go for 2 CDs stay around 0.25
* If TV bits/pixel*frame is below ~0.13 you should raise your bitrate (and go for more CDs)."

And does it do that compressibility check and adjust the resolution from that?

One last thing. I am perfectly happy to use GK Im not sure if i understand the audio part right. With 1 cd rips I realise It is stupid to use ac3 sound so I want to use MP3 VBR 128.

In the audio A part when I select the .ac3 file created by DVD2avi it is automatically got "size" checked. If I click the bitrate and choose 128 will it still remember the .ac3 file I loaded in? Also once I want to get encoding do i select that "just mux" like the guide tells me or do I do something else for 128 VBR Mp3 encoding?

I guess what I'm asking is for the exact steps I should take when I want to encode an XVID file with MP3 VBR audio.

Thanks so much!!!
Ben

no, this step is not required when you do compressibility test

yes

P.S. Don't ask what's best - just try them both and decide.
