Burning Downloaded Movies

Hi this may be an easy question but i downloaded a movie and its an .AVI and its a widescreen version of the movie and when I burn the movie to a DVD+R it shrinks the movie horribly movie plays fine on dvd player but its like super small widescreen lol any ways to fix this?
