Hi,
I was a bit confused, as I found out (did i?) that matroska does not support mpg (mpg2) streams.

I found out while trying to load a .m2v Video Stream into the MMG GUI of Mkvmerge.
Now on the IRC channel i got told Matroska accepts MPEG2 streams.

But the MMG does not like it and reports with an error notice.

It tells me to run list options:

mkvmerge --list-types
Known file types:
ext description
--- --------------------------
demultiplexers:
aac AAC (Advanced Audio Coding)
ac3 A/52 (aka AC3)
avi AVI (Audio/Video Interleaved)
dts DTS (Digital Theater System)
mp2 MPEG1 layer II audio (CBR and VBR/ABR)
mp3 MPEG1 layer III audio (CBR and VBR/ABR)
mkv general Matroska files
ogg general OGG media stream, audio/video embedded in OGG
mov Quicktime/MP4 audio and video
rm RealMedia audio and video
srt SRT text subtitles
ssa SSA/ASS text subtitles
idx VobSub subtitles
wav WAVE (uncompressed PCM)
flac FLAC lossless audio
tta TTA lossless audio
output modules:
AAC audio
AC3 audio
DTS audio
FLAC
MP3 audio
simple text subtitles
uncompressed PCM audio
Video (not MPEG1/2)
Vorbis audio

Now you see Video (not MPEG1/2)

Does not mean MPEG streams arent supported ? And if so, why not?

My 2nd question (the above 2 questions dont count as two;) )
is to how to circumvent this (if existing) drawback?

I could convert the .m2v stream... shall i make an avi?

oh Oh Oh... Help wanted :)

EDIT: Dang, this belongs to the other Post i just made... i thought i was editing it.

I've taken the liberty of merging your two threads into one, and correcting the thread title.

I'm also moving this to the New Containers forum, which is where the Matroska development team spends the bulk of their time, and where you will most likely get Matroska related assistance.
