View Full Version : problems finding the right way to convert DVD to SVCD (mpg)

im trying to back up some dvds to svcd, (babylon 5). trouble is, it starts ok, but then crashes. locks up, or dvdshrink shuts down. (at diferent points every time, useualy 12 -18% into the job) my system is a P4, 2.8 GHZ, 2 sticks of 512 ddr 400.
running win 98 se.
very little else running on system.
any help please?

dvdshrink does not convert to svcd. for that you would have to use a different programs such as DVDx or Xmpeg etc. try Doom9's main page for a list of such software.
as for dvdshrink crashing, in preferences turn off burning with nero and when the analisys starts untick the preview window and see how you go.

i did try unticking the preview window, and it made no diferance, but i will untick the nero box, give that a try and let you know.

im about to give up trying to back up my dvd's to mpeg (or vcd) have been trying the likes of vcd galaxy, dvd converter, ImToo dvd ripper, magic dvdripper.... and no luck at all!!!
but i did bet the BSOD with dvd converter and ImToo fatal error at 0028:F0006EB8
anyone know wtf that means?

will go get it now... never thought it would be so complex to simply convert a few files to mpg

it shouldnt be. :)
there may be other factors with your pc though that could be causing the problems.

btw have you ever considered giving DVD2SVCD a try??
