I'm trying to view subtitles with the Vobsub filter, but Vdub (neither regular nor Mod) will display the output video "on the fly." In other words, I can see the input (without subs), but when I start to play the output pane goes blank or freezes. If I press "stop," the output frame will appear as a still in proper position and I can see the subs (if a sub is supposed to be there).
I can only figure this must be due to a lack of sufficient "computing power" to show both unfiltered and filtered video at once (although I use an Athlon 1600, 1.4 GHz, 256 MB RAM). But even if I disable the input video and swap the panes so that only the output should show, it still will not play back in "real time."
This sort of cuts down on its usefulness for judging subtitle syncing. And yes, I know there are other programs I can use for that, but I've tried a few other VDub filters and I get the same result. Trying to resize, for instance ... it won't play back in real time.
Do I just need more "ummphh" (i.e. RAM), or is there a setting I'm missing ... ? Media Player Classic, for instance, WILL play back the XviD video with VobSub subtitles just fine.
thx,
