I'm using this program to convert AVI to DVD with external SRT file.
Some of the subs are 2-line, and some 1-line.
The 2-line subs show up perfectly, but the 1-line subs show up not all the way at the bottom of the screen...they should be shifted one line down.
I don't understand why DVD2SVCD subtitle preference, Y-pos, refers to the position of the first line of text, and not the bottom of the last line of text.
It seems to me that subtitles should be as unobtrusive as possible, and when there is only 1 line of text, that should be pushed as far down as possible.
I also notice that when changing font size, style, etc...that the Y-pos needs to be adjusted...leading to time-consuming trial and error...if only we could specify the *bottom* of the last/bottom line of text, then Y-pos would only need to be set once. DVD2SVCD could easily calculate the positioning based on font type/size and the number of lines...for *each* subtitle.
The only workaround I have found for the 1-line problem is to go through the SRT file, and insert a line containing only the character "-" before each 1-line subtitle. I tried to find some kind of function like this in Subtitle Workshop, but couldn't. It appears that this has to be done completely manually.
