I'm trying to slightly edit still menu. It's a subtitle selection menu and i want to remove some buttons but i have a problem.

i have this situation:

lang 1
language 2
long-language 3

and i need to remove language 2. by editing picture and removing it i have hole between "lang 1" and "long-language 3", and if i shift the third language up, the selection border is still from removed "language 2" causing the effect of selecting just a half of the "long-language 3" word.

i suppose i need to alter menu sibtitle stream aswell, but how to do that, and how to mux subtitle and video stream back to vob? i was trying to do it with ifoedit's author dvd mode and then remuxing it back to menu vob but that doesn't seem to work.

one more thing... in vobedit i see 2 subtitle streams, and i think that one id for 4:3 and the other for 16:9 aspect ratio.

so what would be the easiest way for editing that and puting it all back together?

Your life would be so better if you get MenuEdit or DVDReMake to hide your Language 2 button but they are not free. There is a manual and free way of doing it in VobEdit before the tools mentioned came along but that could have you editing the menu VOB for hours. It was easier to work on a still menu instead of a motion menu though since we had lesser Navigation Packs to edit. I know how to do it but I don't have a guide. It can be very complex and long trying to explain it at this moment.

But menuedit or dvdremake don't do anything with graphic :( and my goal is to totaly remake just one small part of menu... is it posibile to make that part menu in some dvd authoring software and then put it back to it original place? or just something to mux video and subtitle stream (or two) into menu-vob??

http://cdr-zone.com/guide/1/replace-menu-still-with-dvdremake-pro.html

is this what you are looking to do, modify the original picture to remove a button? I just wanted to do it with DVDRemake but without the need for buying extra 'commercial' authoring software. This was one way to create a still menu with modified image but retaining the original feel of the button shapes and highlights etc. Ifoedit doesn't remux menu's and nor does DVDShrink retain menu's but you can bypass this using my guide in the above link ;)

you can do it with authoring software also but it's sometimes very hard to recreate the original feel etc of the menu. DVDAuthor GUI is a great free program to create menus as is GUI_DVDAuthor also and I recommend you look at those also :)

I've also managed to add a button to a still image but also modify the original subpicture also so that it shows a highlight without the need for 'commercial' authoring software. You can also add a highlight to a motion menu though adding the button to the image is not impossible but would involve a lot of work :(
