Why is divx download over 7MB while XVID download is something over 700KB?

I've never used or downloaded divx, so I'm not really qualified to answer and can only guess.
I think it's because divx includes a lot of other (unneccessary) stuff besides the codec, while xvid includes only the neccessary.
The divx 3.11 codec (hacked microsoft codec) was only about ~600KB, and included an audio-codec.
Edit: I've just downloaded and tried, and divx includes an installation (trial) of divx pro, and a media player...
Indeed a lot of unneccessary stuff, because everybody certainly has at least one media player installed, and if I would want to try divx pro, I wouldn't download the basic version of divx...
Seems like a tactic to bring as many people as possible to install divx pro, because many tend to click on ok without looking when installing something...
Well, I clicked "cancel" instead ;)

There´s the mentioned DivX Player, and EKG for example.

The people of DivX want that their customers see the name "DivX" as often as possible ;-)

We want our downloaders to have the best DivX playback experience you can have. It was mentioned in an earlier thread at forums.divx.com

Actually should.. at least from your users
For me the last version it tried was 5.03 and that is a pretty long time ago as you can imagine. I didn't like its output's "flavour" compared to 4.12 beta and then switched to xvid after some time.
