Well, I think my dvr-104 is about dead. It has burning errors every so often, but has lasted me for a good 2 years.

So I was looking into getting a new 4x DL burner. I noticed both the pioneer 108 and nec 3500 have this capability. I was wondering if there are any other models that do as well. Out of those two I have been leaning towards the pioneer since I hear it is a little more reliable w/ the burns. But I'll also listen to reasons for and against it.

Now, for blanks, I have been using riteks for 2 years. I have really only used g03's and g02's, so I was wondering if their g05's are any good. I have heard they have gone down in quality of the past months/year. Also I noticed some taiyo yuden 8x blanks on rima for about $75/100 and was curious to know about those, or any other sub $1 8x blanks. Of course since all these drives can handle both - and + I'm willing to try either format. So any good 4x or 8x +- media recommendations would be appreciated.

<Sarcasm> Since your response has been overwelming </Sarcasm> I went ahead and bought the 108 from newegg. They have it for $84 + $4 shipping and it comes with 5 free blanks. I also bought a 50pack of 8x Ridata blanks. I figure the burner can't be that bad and if the blanks suck than I'm only out $30 or so for them.
