Hi there, before to make any coment, I would like to thank Mr. Shrink to provide us such a great and free DVD back up tool. :thanks:
Anyway, I made a back up of a 100 minutes film with DVD Shrink 3.2 and took over 40 minutes to do the job (Just on the HD) but with previous versions of DVD Shrink took no more than 35 minutes in the same conditions, or even longer films.
Can somebody confirm this or it is just my imagination?
Greetings! :)

castellanos are you using deep analysis with shrink?

No, no deep analysis, just like I used before: Open disc (normal analysis) 2 minutes, then select the language and subtitles I need and transcoding on a DVD5.
Usually it takes for a 100 minutes movie 30 or 35 minutes... with DVD Shrink 3.2 over 40 min.
Gracias!

I noticed the slowdown with the AEC algos. There is a slight speed penalty for the improved quality.:D

Castellanos: just to be sure , are you using shrink to rip the movies to your HD?
I allways rip my movies with decrypter, and i use dvd shrink sometimes to encode when i donīt need compression. I have a P4 2.8 FSB 800 , 1gb RAM DDR 400 dual channel, and i have similar results with shrink 3.2 and previous versions.
maybe you can:
Defrag your HD
Check you DMA settings
Check for a firmware update for your DVD drive

Espero ayudar

My computer is a Laptop P4 2.6 Ghz 512 RAM and I defragment the HD very often, anyway, I have to ripp on the HD before burning (only one DVD+R/RW).
However, with previous versions of DVD Shrink I did the same and the conditions were also the same (computer and movie)... May be is like Beak said: The new DVD Shrink has a new transcoding engine, that could be the problem... if it's really a better quality, I can not really tell.

The new DVD Shrink has a new transcoding engine, that could be the problem.
yes it is the new AEC(Adaptive Error Correction) setting that slows it down. you should easily notice it when compressing to under 80% while above that should be pretty close to normal speed. dvdshrink said it was slower under those type conditions(though he didnt say percentage) because it is trying to doa better quality.
if you need proof then simply do a dvd the AEC turned on and the same dvd with AEC turned off. take note of the difference in time it takes. then take note of the difference in quality(should be easily seeable when you go under 70%).
