You're not Online all the time, are you? If so, you may have picked up a virus; many force your computer to reboot. There's quite a few freebie programs you can use to check -- the one I'd recommend most would be Spybot (run a Google search, and you'll likely find what you need). Also, setting up a personal firewall will do wonders. Most of the viruses I've encountered personally, however, only force your computer to reboot while you're connected to the Internet...but I'm not very literate when it comes to the code many viruses use, so of course I see no reason why they couldn't have mutated to the point of shutting you down while you're offline, too.
Even if I'm off-based, it doesn't hurt to check!

I'd get a hold of ultimateboot cd 1.4 it's free ..burn the cd and run memtest (about 30 mins) and cpuburn in (for a couple of hours). Just to eliminate it being a hardware issue.

Sounds like a hardware problem. I had this problem where the PC would reboot when any access was attempted on the IDE bus weather it was accessing the hard drive or cd/dvd-rom. It would boot into the operating system OK but after that any IDE access activity and the machine would reboot. In my case the CPU went bad.
What you may want to do is try to isolate the problem by removing any non essencial devices. EG. Network card, scanner card, USB devices, Sound card, All drives but the boot and DVD-rom and by process of elimination see if its a peticular peice of hardware or its assoicated driver.
In device manager you can also disable drivers one by one for the aformentioned devices.
Good luck

Have you tried using dvd decrypter to rip the file to the hard drive. Its a free download you can get from the download section of doom9. this may help you eliminate a software problem. If it does it with that I would bet its hardware related.
<edit> Is this problem on all DVD's or just one DVD?

im guessing you didnt read original first post
it likes to crash even when using norton or spybot many of things
so it aint got to do with just dvd

Before trying anything else, try this first. Remove the side panel that exposes the motherboard etc. Leave it off and try processing a DVD. I found that my PC was rebooting while I was using DVD Shrink 3.2 and only since using 3.2.
It turned out for me that temperature was the problem particularly during the hot weather we have been having. Give it a try, it will cost you nothing.
