I am a newbie to capturing but have a basic knolege of how it works.
My request is a little complex so I will start from the begining.
I just got my hi def sat reciever from dish network unfortunatly i could not aford there 1000 dollar stand alone recorder.
what i would like to do is capture the video via my dv camcorder wich would probably give me dvd quality results with the video, that part i have under control. But here is the catch i would also like to capture the audio via the sat recievrs optical output to preserve the 5.1 dolby digital sound. so I guess my first question is how does one go about conecting the optical out from the sat to the pc (I have a sound blaster audigy nx (external usb) wich i now wont work because the audigy corupts the ac3 stream) I guess i would need some sort of pci card with a "spidf in" that wont corrupt the ac3 and a program that will alow me to capture the video thru my dv camera (although i would not be against a separate video capture card if it made this easier)and the audio thru the optical at the same time (as to avoid syncing isues).my end goal would be to have the resulting capture burnt to dvd after editing and adding menus of course, but i also have that under control.
I know its alot to ask but if any one would know it would be the people at this forum
THANX IN ADVANCE
keep up the good work
