Hi, can anyone tell me how come spyware idents 5 DSO spy-things after comming to the site? The reason I ask is because of the fact that someone in my class warned me not to use doom9 anymore (I gave the link to him). "cause it would contain Spyware"... I'm sure doom9 doesn't use spyware but can anyone explain what's happening here?

DSO-Exploits are IE related and they got nothing to do with this forum ;)

Yea I know that.. ;)

I wasn't talking about the forum; I was talking about the main-page..

I let Spybot do it's thing... clean..
I start firefox to brouwse to doom9.org
I close firefox
I let spybot do it's thing again and Baim!... 5 results. Ad-aware doesn't find anything btw.

Now as said before I'm sure www.doom9.org doesn't send 'spyware' to your system. I was just wondering why it's happening with me and my friend (both on College-network ..might have something to do with it).

Yes it's a little bit offtopic meaby but it doesn't seem to happen when I go to a much-more-messy page like www.xbox-scene.com (may/will conain something else tho. just no results likt that)..

p.s. A little voice tells me that It could be spybot (someone tells me that Spybot.worm is detected by both Ad-Aware and Norton Anti-virus after install of spybot).

what are "DSO" anyway? can spybot tell you what it is? if it's just cookies, then u have nothing to worry about.

as far as i know, there's no bug that allows firefox to infect your computer in any way.

but please provide us with more info, and we might be able to better help you.

DSO exploit is a bug in spybot
the best thing u should do is to run spybot and when he finds it you open regedit and just take out the reg keys of exploit, you can see the registery keys of exploit when you extend it. then when you ask spybot to eleminate exploit he says he only can if you reboot,do that and you will never have expliot problems again:D

the main page doesn't even use cookies, only the forum does. I really don't know where all these reports come all of the sudden, but I have a really hard time believing I have anything to do with them.. I'm not even using Windows based servers to begin with and I have yet to hear from an Apache infection that would send out crap that can infect windows machines.

Can you provide me with a link with more info about that bug? (or proof I can show my friend who has lost fate in the links I give him)
I'll try-out your trick... will report...

DSO's are exploits that enables execution of files without user notifications from within IE.
