Hi all,

I would like to know more about Ritek discs. I heard there are many versions like 04, 05, ... What means these numbers ? Do they qualify the quality of the disc ?

I bought a cakebox of 100 DVD+R marked as Philips 4x but without anything marked on the disc itslef. Like a blank produkt. I wonder if they are really Philips discs. I had 5 discs failed before to have one succesfully burned. When I use DVD Decrypter to burn, it gives the following informations about the disc :

Physical Format Information (Last Recorded):
Disc ID: RITEK-R02-01
Book Type: DVD+R
Part Version: 1
Disc Size: 120mm
Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified
Number of Layers: 1
Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP)
Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit
Track Density: 0.74 um/track
First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196.608
Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 2.464.031
Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0 It's marked Disc ID: RITEK-R02-01. What does it mean ? Not philips ? Bad disc ? If yes, I should return them back as fast as possible.

Thx to let me know.

You generally never know the manufacturer of media until you buy it unless the retailer displays mid code.
Ritek are made in Taiwan.RO4 and RO5 are DVD-R disc's R04 are 4x disc's RO5 are usually 8x disc's.I find varying degrees of quality with different batches.
RO2-01 are DVD+R disc's.

Ricoh R00, Ritek R01 == 2.4
Ricoh R01, Ritek R02 == 4x
Ricoh R02, Ritek R03 == 8x
Ricoh R03, Ritek R04 == 16x

Ricoh are a better disc than Ritek.

If you download Dvdinfopro it will show you the disc manufacturer without having to burn it.
Hope this helps.

Thank you ! Does it mean my Ritek discs are bad quality ? Are they equal to real Philips discs (Those with the philips texts on the disc) ?

Philip's disc's are usually good quality.These are Ritek which can be good and bad.It seems like a lot of sites are advertising disc's that are not what they really are.
I just got stung with Arita +R sent me no name garbage (Waiting for refund).
It pays to do your homework on what sites are reputable.
As I just found out if it looks to good to be true it usually is.
