How to Remove Horrible Frames

I was wondering if there is a good way to remove frames that are just horrible looking(Super Blocky) from a source. I want them removed completely cause there really is no way to repair them as it is not noise but rather just a botched frame.

If you need a sample of what I'm talking about I'll post a link for you to get a clip from tomorrow.

Edit: I should have been more clear.....this is more than just a few frames. it affects approx 30 seconds total in an entire episode and their are 26 episodes.

how about using freezeframe to copy the previous (or next) frame over the blocky one(s)?

disadvantage: a lot of handwork to tweak the script...

if it's DCT blocks from dodgy encoding, it can be deblocked within mpeg2source. simply set "cpu=4" to deblock, and "cpu=6" to dering as well.

if there's 30 bad seconds, that's a substantial amount. you can't cut it out can you?

a sample would be good. i'd also like to know what DVD this is off, because i'm not going to be buying that one :)

Indeed it's probably impossible to cut out. but here's the situation. During the parts with the bad frames it's like 3-4 bad frames 2 good ones then 3-4 more bad ones. I think if you cut them out the motion would still be fluid. I'll post a link to the test file as soon as I get home from class.

In the past, I've used DeleteFrame() and DuplicateFrame(), not knowing any better. I think freezeframe might have worked easier...

I've also done Trim() to duplicates a series of frames, just so I have some mouth movements in mostly static scene.

Sounds like an interlacing/telecine issue from that description.

indeed it is. but I haven't been able to get tomsmocomp nor decomb to do it correctly. Thanks for mentioning it. but some help would still be appreciated in solving this problem...I think I know why. it has both progressive and interlaced frames as my DGindex is going nuts. Clips will be posted shortly.

After Additional Looking at the clip I realized something.....

Good frams.....followed by two bad frames which are really duplicates of the good frame.

After some additional testing and attempts they cannot be detected as duplicates. Tried multiDecimate and Decimate. IVTC operations, Tomsmocomp, Kerneldeint, FieldDeinterlace.

What a great problem. lol
