View Full Version : Cutting/editing xvid with ac3 - help

I'm trying to reduce file size so that I can fit 13 episodes of 350Mb videos onto one DVD. I was thinking that if I cut away the intro and/or the end titles they would fit, but the xvid has 2 channel AC3 and the result is always bad audio sync. I've tried latest vdub, vdubmod and vdub with AC3 support, but I can't really get this to work.

Help.

remux the avi with AVIMux GUI (and hope you havent cut AC3 frames in half...)

I...really don't know how to do that. Besides, I don't think it will quite work. Every time I cut, it only cuts the video, audio however seems to be unaffected. I mean, that the audio of the cut scene is still there.

I really need some help with this, I've tried several guides and methods, and came up zero. Surly, this can be done?

google for avimux GUI. open the file and save it as avi.

I'm trying to use VDMod 1.5.10.1 with the expressed purpose to trim the AC3 audio, and either it does not apply the .AddRange()'s or I'm doing something wrong when I try to demux it.

Here's what I'm doing:

- Load up an AVISynth script
- Add the AC3 stream, Direct Stream Copy, set the delay under Interleaving
- scroll through the video and cut a couple segments out
- Save my processing settings, checking the box to "Include the selection and edit list"
- Close and re-open VDMod
- Load my processing settings
- Go to Streams -> Stream List, select the AC3 and Demux

The resulting audio clip is just as long as the trim'd video, but the segments I cut in video are not applied to the audio. Any ideas what's wrong? I may have to revert back to using VDMod 1.4.13

@VresiBerba

It can be done. Just use an older version of VirtualDubMod (I use 1.4.13 I think) to cut it. When you demux the .ac3, use AC3Fix and BeSplit to fix the AC3 frames before remuxing it with your cut video. It should maintain sync just fine.

Hopefully VDMod 1.6.x will be able to cut AC3's again...
