Does it actually work? Can you make a .ram and work with .rmvb?

With recent versions of RealServer or Helix Server, it should be able to stream VBR RealMedia, but I am afraid I do not know exactly when full support for this was introduced.

If you don't want complicated things, you can setup a web server and put rmvb on it. RealPlayer will buffer it and start it. Personally, I never got Helix Server to work correctly

then it is called download, and not streaming. Not all players can start playing while downloading. With streaming, playback should start almost immediately. There have been a lot of efforts to reduce the dreading "buffering" time...

RealPlayer and MPC can do. I know it's not real streaming but it works.
