Hi,

I remember some time ago seeing here smth. about a program to prolong DVD life etc.

If using notebook , and watching DVD movies it is (sometimes) important to conserve the battery life. Can such programs be used for that?

i wonder if it's posssible at all?

Let's say I watch a friends episode - 20 mins.

Does it really needed for DVD to spin all 20 minutes while I watch? Or it can read (somehow) the whole episode in let's say 10 minutes and then rest in peace? Or it's not possible?

I don't know much about laptop battery life as i don't own one, but if you need to slow down your optical drive then this tool will do the trick, it can also set how long your drive stays spinning for.

CDROM Tool: http://cdromtool.sourceforge.net/

hope it helps

Is the spinning speed affects the dvd life?

Actually what I need more is some kind of caching program, which will decrease the time to access DVD.
