Anyone experienced audio and video problems with DVD-RB0.57 and 0.57A ?
I have been using .57 and now i figured out that sometimes my futurama episodes on xbox freeze for 3 seconds and then they continue.
On my home dvdplayer there are also freezes, specially when i press the skip key to go to the next chapter, but i get plus that audio problems ( 1sec with audio, 1 sec without audio, 1sec with audio, and so on)
i wonder if this particular problem is fixed with 0.57a or should i use an older version of dvdrebuilder to try.
cant be the media, im using riteks!

jdobbs made some changes in 0.57 that were intended to reduce the audio problems, but which apparently made it worse. See if it clears up with 0.57a, which backs out those changes.

As far as I know ver. 0.57a uses the remuxing engine of 0.56 instead of the changed 0.57.
I recommend you to use 0.57a.

I just did everything again with .56 and same problem happened,
at the some part of the video if i do a 2x rewind with the xbox, it closes the player.

What kind of settop player, DVD burner and DVDR media are you using (old one or not, what brand/type, recording speed etc.)?
Have you done any preprocessing before putting the movie into RB (DVDShrink, DVDReMake, etc.)?

i got
1) the xbox dvdplayer
2) pc dvdplayer with powerdvd
3) a home dvd player cheap brand called talent.
dvd media ritek g03, recording speed 2x, burner pioneer a06
and i got the files with dvddecrypter and after that i reduced with dvdshrink the extras but didnt touch the episodes
the edited dvdshrink dvd has no errors when i watch it with powerdvd.
when i encode it with dvd-rb, on a specific part of an episode if i make a 2x rewind the xbox media player closes. on the same part on the pc dvd powerdvd takes like 5 seconds to rewind at 2x and pass that part.

PowerDVD is not suitable to tell the possible slight difference between copies.
This skipping issue seems more like an editing or configurational problem (causing stacking up of commands maybe) rather than an error int he automated process of RB.
Anyway, if you can devote one (more) G03 to this experiment, I recommend you to transcode the DVD with DVDShrink after the same modifications as with the not working one. Finally burn it just the same way as you did after DVD RB processing.
If done, please test it in your X-box and settop players.

Right now i changed to dvd-rb .57A + QUenc
i will do the same process, and in 5 or 6 hours ill tell you what happened.
The strange part of all this, is that using dvdshrink the exact part of the episode doesnt have any error.
But using dvd RB .56, .57 ,the same minute and second in the video has a problem, cos if i rewind powerdvd it takes like 5 seconds to pass it. (here i didnt even burn it to dvd! i played it from the hard disk)
and if i rewind with the xbox.. the player shuts down.

DVDShrink doesn't do the same thing as DVD-RB -- so making those kinds of comparisons isn't valid. It's like saying "When I go over a speedbump with my Buick my coffee spills -- but when I drive around it with my Honda it doesn't spill. So the Buick must be broken."

um...so DVD-RB is a Buick, correct?

Nobody said they do the same (in fact from a point of view they do, both of them back up DVD9 to DVD5). If you want to exclude possibilities that can cause his issue, maybe only one or two components of the process will remain. I mean if the computer, the preprocessing and the burning phase, the media and the player are all the same, we will know where to do some further investigation.
Your example is quite good, because exactly the differences between the Buick and Honda make the coffee spill. We have to point out those differences.
If the only difference during the two backup method is DVDShrink and DVD Rebuilder (with all its "components"), we know right away that there is something wrong with the RB related process. And it doesn't mean that RB causes the issue it can be wrong software setup or many other things.

@Blackout
Well.... I'd say it's more like a Pontiac and is parked next to the curb observing a very bad analogy.

[DELETED]
I started to get into controversy and had posted a terse response... but I've decided I'm tired of arguing and will bid this thread a "adieu."

[DELETED TOO] :)
It was a response to sg that was deleted meantime.
It is senseless to argue about tools when we are on the same side.

Ok so here is what i did
i encoded the dvd again using .57a + Quenc
the result was the same as with CCE, if i do a 2x rewind on the XBOX in a part of a video the player shuts down.
If i do a 2x rewind on powerdvd , it takes like 5 seconds to pass that part.(im not using dvds here, im using the hard disk)
---
Since i used all the up to date versions..
now ill encode it with dvd-RB .43b + CCE and ill see if the same problem is still there., in 4 hours ill tell you

same problem with dvd-RB .43b + CCE .
if i do a 2x rewind on a video part the player chashes or freezes.
sorry if you got angry jdobbs.
Maybe sometime you would like to see what makes this error, this time i didnt even use dvdshrink, i used the original dvds.
So ..if you ever rent the futurama season4 dvds, look on dvd#3, last episode on the disc. a part where the robot bender goes into a storm in the sea. on the original you can rewind that part and nothing happens, but if you encode the disc with dvd-RB my xbox dvdplayer crashes when makind a 2x rewind in that part, and powerdvd freezes some seconds to rewind that part.
keep in mind that is not a problem of the media used, since i used the ritek dvds, and i used the image encoded in the hard disk and played it with powerdvd

Are you NTSC? I'll find a copy if so.
Pabloz
7th September 2004, 00:11
yea, i borrowed the futurama season4 Pack, USA, NTSC
season4, look for dvd#3, last episode called "obsoletely fabulous"
There is a part where bender is on a boat, and on a sea storm.
dvd-rb copy:
if i 2x REWIND the all the storm part with the xbox dvd player, it shuts down.
if i 2x REWIND the storm part with powerdvd, it takes like 6 seconds to pass it.
if i 2x REWIND the storm part with home dvdplayer, nothing happens.
but definitly that part has something wrong after reencoding it with dvd-rb.

What version of CCE are you using. 2.67 does have some problems. If you have 2.50 give that a try.

I had a problem with Dvdrb when i installed a newer version and left the .ini file from the previous version in the folder.Cce basic encoded the movie in quick fashion, and i ended up with a small file, when opened in ifoedit, was a black screen, with a garbled window in it.
The solution was to remove dvdrb and the .ini file, unzip dvdrb back into the file with the Mpeg2.dll file, and reconfigure dvdrb.Worked flawlessly the next time. For some reason the old .ini file reconfigured the newer version, but it wouldn't work.

Cool! thanks!
just look at the pics and do the 2x rewind, you will see that powerdvd freezes at 0:08:17 for some seconds and then it continues, but on some dvdplayers it crashes at that exact point

I can't repeat the problem exactly, but I do see the oddity. It seems that when I go 2X in reverse on that scene it (sometimes, but not every time) jumps back to the previous chapter...
I'll look around it a little...
Pabloz
12th September 2004, 14:16
really ? at 0:08:17 it jumps back the chapter?
when i do a 1x rewind for example in that same spot, powerdvd freezes like 5 seconds and then it continues. but those 5 seconds just tell me something wrong is there.
thank god you have problems there too, i was thinking i was crazy

There is a blank pause for a few seconds just before the storm scene (even on the original).

here its like this:
0:08:17 Firt waves, i could not take a screenshot because powerdvd didnt let me.
before 0:08:17 there is lightning.
i wasnt able to see the lightning, cos the xbox dvdplayer shuts down then the firt waves appear
