I didn't notice an announcement for AviSynth 2.5.5 which came out on 8/31 either. I just stumbled across it myself.

dragongodz is right, I was on holidays. But I had a very competent replacement, though it is rather hard keeping up-to-date with everything if you do not have time to read the forum a bunch of times a day, and I wouldn't expect scipio to spend as much time on this board as I do when I'm not on holidays. I'll try to catch up with all the major developments as soon as humanly possible.. if by the end of the week-end I'm still missing out on important developments, please give me a shout.
