Hi!

I'm newbbie and I would like to encode just the main movie in DVD-RB.
Did I must extract all the DVD with dvddecrypter and keep just what I want (main movie, language and subtitle) with dvd shrink and pas the directory to DVD-RB??

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you have to use another tool to pre-process the disc. For movie only I find DVD Shrink the best option.

However, DVD Shrink can rip the movie directly from the DVD. So you don't have to use DVD Decrypter at all, and it shouldn't cost any extra time.

DVD Decrypter can also do this. If you go to IFO Mode and enable stream processing and choose only the video tracks and audio tracks you want. It will only rip the main movie vob's to your hd.

These files probably will not work with DVD-RB, because it needs a full DVD structure. DVSShrink creates a full DVD structure, with just the main movie.

I dont know why it wouldnt.... this method gives you all the vob, ifo, and bup files from the main movie vts, and i think also the video_ts vob, ifo, and bup files. That should be all it needs. Although Im not sure if it gives you the video_ts files or not.

Video_ts is needed, and probably it refers to other missing vobs.
The program doesn't find other vobs, and throw an error.

I bet if decrypter did give you the video_ts files with this method then all you would have to do is open it in ifo edit and do a get vts sectors and that should correct the ifo's. Or you could do a mock strip where you dont strip anything and let ifo edit process all the files.

Or you can use shrink, which seems like it would be the easier way.

DVDDECRYPTER won't work... believe me :)... use it just for the entire DVD... believe me again :)

I use ifoedit to strip the dvd to the main movie, it also allows me to turn on subtitles by default if the movie needs it (ie kill bill 2, last samurai etc).

Pre-processing this way I have never had any troubles with rb at all

For me dvdshrink is more simple than ifoedit, so I think that I stay with dvdshrink.

Or you could try my still favorite application, DVD2DVD-R.

It makes main movie only (use version 1.81; version 2 which allows more than one VTS is still in beta stage) and uses CCE for the encoding.

Most of the times (I admit not always) it works lika a charm.

I test to do my new DVD (last samourai) and I've got a little question.
I test two times to do it with DVD-RB and it's final size is 4.14GB and not 4,36GB. The original size (main movie only) is 6,07.
I didn't touch any hiden settings.

here is my ini file :
[Options]
CCE=1
LoadPlugin=1
EncoderMinimized=1
RemoveDTS=1
DECOMBFlag=1
idct7Opt=1
AudioDub=1
OneClick=0
NoWarn=1
Completed=6
ReduceOpt=0
[CCEOptions]
VBR_bias=25
Quality_prec=16
eclPasses=3
OPV=0
[Paths]
CCENEW=C:\Program Files\Cinema Craft Encoder SP v2.67.00.27\cctsp.exe
MPEG2DEC=C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\MPEG2Dec3dg.dll
DECOMB=C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\Decomb521.dll
Source=D:\DVD\THE_LAST_SAMOURAI\VIDEO_TS\
Working=C:\DVD\

Can you help me please?
I do a movie before this and the size is 4,36 so I didn't understand.

Thank you wmansir for your reply, that's exactly what I was looking for.
