Anyone know when the next version of Microsoft Office will be out?
Deciding whether to pick up Microsoft Office 2003 now or wait awhile.

Why?
In terms of actual features you will use there is very little difference between Office 97 and 2003.
Frankly, if I were you i'd go with either Office 2000 (and put it upto SP3) or Office XP.
Office 2003 is a _very_ minor update of Office XP, it adds a few minor features and adds an ugly theme to Office applications. You can actually make programs like Outlook etc in 2000 and XP behave like Outlook 2003 with very little effort.
Also, if you're wanting Office 2003 for its spam filter... forget it, spambayes (http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/windows.html) which has a downloadable addin for Outlook is FAR superior to Outlooks spam filter.
If you want to waste your money go ahead, otherwise if I were you i'd just buy Office 2000 or XP.
Oh, and if you're wanting just a word processor, spreadsheet etc then download OpenOffice (http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.2/index.html) instead and save yourself some cash.

Thanks for the info. I picked up the Office Pro 2003 at an educational pricing and this is my first copy of Office. It was time to upgrade from openoffice.
