Ok for some very, very strange reason this doesn’t seem to be answered anywhere,
How do I normalize an ac3 file??
I have a DVD that I own, ripped it to my PC used, DVD to avi to extract the ac3 audio file, the file is way to quite, so I need to maximize the audio, then add it to my AVI, how do I do this??
I can find no app or info on how to do this, I can use goldwave to maximize, (using AC3filter to decode) but I can’t encode it back, is there any software that does this???
btw this is for a divx movie being played on a HTPC

You will lose quality when reencoding to AC3. The best way to achieve higher volume, since you are using an HTPC, is use AC3Filter for playback, and use its built-in DRC and gain filters to increase the volume. If you are outputting via SPDIF, see if your external decoder/receiver supports DRC.

Think the difference is that "demux" gives you only the selected stream while "demux all" gives you all streams...
