Hey all, this is my first post.

I have a slight problem on my computer. Basically I just noticed recently the apperance of four dll files on my partition (labeled f)
- The Partitioned Drive is using the NTFS File System.

The names of the Four corresponding dlls:

- mfc71.dll
- mfc71u.dll
- msvcp71.dll
- msvcr71.dll

I checked the properties and noticed that the file was created and modified about 1 year ago. (See pic below)

Can anyone tell me what these are or how they got there?

My system:

AMD Athlon XP 2.0Ghz
1.0GB RAM
ATI 9700 AIW PRO
Windows SP2 Installed
WIN XP PRO

these files should be harmless. these are runtime files needed by some applications that were compiled with MS visual studio. sometimes they come bundeled with applications that need them, because not all systems have them already installed (i.e. the firefox browser has some, but they're put at the firefox directory).

to find info about (some of) these files, try here (http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/dlllibrary)

my guess is that it's a leftover from a previous install. the reason they're on the root of your F drive is beyond me though.

hope it helps.
