Hi i'm pretty much a complete beginner at ripping.i've burned some dvds that didn't need to be compressed using dvd decrypter and iv'e used gordian knot to get avi files but i haven't yet managed to get a file that needs to be compressed onto a dvd.I've started using dvdshrink no and then imgtool classic to burn an image and then use dvd decrypter. However, after i select my video_ts file in source directory and pick my output file i click the image button to begin nut i get an "Error" saying"Can't find a video_ts directory. This directory must exist below the given source directory!". I've no dount that i'm doing something very basic wrong but ijust can't figure it out? Also could you recommend any other methods of first compressing dvds and then putting them onto blank dvd disks. I'd be very grateful for any help at all.

hi and welcome to the forum,
yes, your error truly is rather basic, indeed you just selected the wrong folder: You have to select the folder that _contains_ the VIDEO_TS folder!

so like this:

my_DVD_folder
|
|- VIDEO_TS
|- AUDIO_TS

then select the my_DVD_folder in ImgToolClassic, and everything should work fine!

oh btw, the AUDIO_TS folder is not essential (after all it is empty), but a couple of standalones won't read a DVD that doesn't contain it, so just make sure it's in there aswell! it might even be that ImgTool Classic requires it to be there!
